Silicon Valley Global Award for our Managing Director North America

Congratulations to Hugh Curran – our Managing Director for North America – who was named an ‘Honoree’ at the 2023 Silicon Valley Global Awards.

The ITLG Silicon Valley Global Awards recognise and celebrate Irish and Irish-American technology leaders who are working at the highest levels in their industries and making an impact by advancing technology. Fifty executives were honoured at the high-profile ceremony, which took place in California’s Stanford University on March 30th. 

Guest speaker was rugby legend and former Ireland Rugby Captain – Paul O’Connell – who took part in a panel discussion about Ireland’s outstanding rugby success, the use of technology by the team, as well as preparations for the upcoming World Cup.

I’m incredibly proud to be named a Silicon Valley Honoree for the second time, following a momentous 2022 for Global Shares when we became part of J.P. Morgan. We’ve major expansion plans for the North American region in 2023 to help many more businesses unlock the power of employee ownership with our advanced tech solutions and team of 750+ equity experts. I look forward to meeting my fellow Honourees at this year’s Irish rugby-themed Award Ceremony, which will showcase Ireland’s world class success stories both on and off the pitch. A big shout out to my awesome Global Shares and J.P. Morgan colleagues who’ve helped us achieve this award – I can’t wait to see what this next chapter holds for us.

Hugh joined Global Shares in 2012 at the company’s headquarters in his native West Cork, Ireland, and progressed rapidly through operations and client management roles. He moved to the US in 2013 to set up Global Shares’ Jersey City office and moved into a business development role. He has led the Global Shares North American team through a decade of rapid growth and overseen the opening of two additional operations centres in Nashville and Calgary. His qualifications include a master’s in Financial Economics, a master’s in Mathematics and he is a Certified Equity Professional (CEP). Hugh was previously a recipient of a Silicon Valley Global Award in 2019.  In 2022 he was appointed to the Board of Advisors of the Certified Equity Professional Institute (CEPI) at Santa Clara University in Silicon Valley.
