Tim Hou


Tim Houstoun is a renowned corporate strategist who has developed a reputation for nurturing and transforming companies.

He joined Global Shares as interim CEO in 2008, and spotted an opportunity which would change the future path of the company. His stewardship has resulted in Global Shares building a global technology platform, and has allowed us to transition to a company that is a leading global provider of equity management solutions with best-in-class software and services.

Tim’s visionary ability and management capabilities, has led Global Shares through a comprehensive software development phase, numerous rounds of fundraising, securing MiFID and FINRA/SEC regulation and, more importantly, growing our business into a multi-million dollar firm with 12 offices, 260 staff, $5Bn in client assets and plan participants in 100 countries worldwide.

In 2017 Tim accepted the Deloitte & Silicon Valley Bank Award for “FinTech Company of the Year” on behalf the Global Shares, and in 2018 Global Shares joined the Deloitte Fast 50™ listing of Ireland’s fastest growing technology companies.

Prior to joining Global Shares he worked in the service sector for 20 years, including positions as CEO of Business Direct Group Plc, and Chairman of Fast Track 100 Special Mail Services Plc. His Directorships include Irish Atlantic Salt Ltd, and Houstoun Capital Partners Ltd. Tim is a Board Member of the American Coalition of Stock Plan Administrators (ACSPA) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.



Andy Stewart is a Non-Executive Director of Global Shares.

During his career he has built and led alternative investment businesses in some of the world’s most renowned international asset management firms and banks.

Prior to joining Motive Partners, Andy co-led Blackrock’s Alternative Investment Platform (BAI), leading investment teams which were focused on non-traditional assets and strategies. He helped grow the business to over $120 billion in assets, and more than $1.2 billion in revenues. Andy chaired BAI’s Executive Committee, and was a member of the BAI Investment Committee as well as Blackrock’s Global Operating and Human Capital committees.

At Credit Suisse, he helped build the alternatives business into a core driver of profitability. Before joining Credit Suisse, Andy was COO and part of the leadership team that built Man Investments into one of the largest publicly traded alternative asset management firms in the world with over £5 billion in market capitalisation. He is a CAIA charter-holder.


Gerard Flood is a Non-Executive Director of Global Shares. He has an extensive background in corporate finance.

He was a Partner in KPMG Ireland for 25 years and Chairman of its Corporate Finance division. Throughout his career-working in partnership with clients across all sectors- he guided organisations in Merger and Acquisition activity, Fund Raising, Project Finance, Corporate and Financial structuring, and Strategy Determination.

Gerard was also an executive member of the KPMG Corporate Finance, Europe, Middle East and Africa Board which focused on the development of KPMG’s involvement in cross border M&A and Project Finance assignments.

In addition to his role with Global Shares, he also serves as Director of Antrich Consulting Ltd Elkstone Ltd, KPMG Partnership, Creagh Medical Ltd, O’Dwyer Property Management Ltd and Reflex Plastics Technology Ltd.


John Meehan has an all-embracing understanding of the financial services sector, and possesses a detailed knowledge of global stock plan services.

He joined Global Shares as Managing Director in 2015, bringing 20 years’ experience which has underpinned his leadership of the Business Development Team. Through this expertise, he has been responsible for advancing our international footprint in Europe and Asia. In 2019, John was appointed as CEO of Global Shares Japan K.K.

John has held numerous Senior Client Management and Business Development positions across the equity industry. Prior to joining Global Shares, he worked with Computershare where he managed their Executive Investment Services business and was responsible for business development for companies conducting IPO’s. He was previously Head of Client Management for Morgan Stanley’s International Stock Plans business.


Mark Purcell is the Chief Operating Officer of Global Shares and has been part of the board since 2016 as an executive director.

Having joined Global Shares in 2007, Mark has a unique understanding of our company’s journey, and has been a key driver of the company’s development and growth. He has held a number of roles within the operations and IT functions and played an integral role in transitioning Global Shares from a service-based company to a Fintech company.

He is currently responsible for ensuring all IT, operations and execution services are working smoothly and are setup in a way to allow the company to scale in these areas to ensure optimal service delivery.

Mark qualified from University College Cork with an honours degree in Economics and French and an MBS in Economics.

Richard Hayes


Richard Hayes was the esteemed chairman of Global Shares for eleven years, and is currently a Board Director. He became a member of the Global Shares Board of Directors in 2007, having led the Assure Hedge investment group which became a major shareholder in the company.

A Chartered Accountant by profession, for seventeen years Richard was the founder and CEO of financial services company IFG Group Plc – the London and Dublin listed SIPP provider and financial advisory business, of which he remains a Director.

Richard also serves as chairman of The Prusik Asia Funds and Biomass Heating Solutions Ltd. He is presently a Director of Findlay Park Funds Plc – the US and Latin American investment fund with over $11bn under management, and is also a Director and former Chairman of EFT Controls Ltd. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.



Neil Cochrane is an investment professional with a highly regarded reputation for value creation within the Financial Services industry.

Neil joined Motive Partners from AnaCap Financial Partners LLP, where he served as an Investment Director. In that role he was responsible for various investments, including AnaCap’s investment in Aldermore – a UK Challenger bank focused on SME lending, mortgages & deposits.

He also led due diligence engagements focused on commercial, IT/Operations, and management on investment targets across Europe covering digital banking, consumer finance, foreign exchange payments, custody/fund administration and insurance.

He started his career as a consultant at Oliver Wyman Financial Services where he was involved in a broad range of banking and insurance projects.



Etienne Castiaux is a widely-regarded technologist, innovator, and executive in Financial Technology.

Etienne was Chief of Technology & Innovation at FIS for the Enterprise Product Organization, Fortune 500’s #1 financial technology company from 2009 until 2013.

He was CTO and Vice President of Clear2Pay before it was acquired by FIS in 2014. Etienne was the CTO of FICS, and the Head of Research & Technology at S1 Corporation. He was also the brain behind several highly scalable real-time transaction processing platforms in Internet Banking and Payment Hubs which have been implemented at thousands of banks worldwide.

He has also worked as a strategic consultant for Arthur D Little, and as an advisor for several Venture Capital funds, advising banks and telecom companies on e-finance and m-pay strategies. In addition to this, he has also been a member of numerous boards of younger firms active in cyber-security and financial technology.
