As part of the certification process, we spent a lot of time really examining ourselves as a company. We carried out workshops with staff from diverse departments, offices, and backgrounds to re-establish our core values and create new vision and mission statements. We carried out employee engagement surveys to find out what changes were important to people to shape our future HR policies.
We established ‘Global Cares’ – our very active employee wellbeing programme, to promote a fun and friendly environment where people genuinely enjoy working and feel inspired to achieve their best. Global Cares has a jam- packed programme which focuses on four areas – emotional, mental, physical & social wellbeing. Activities include online mindfulness sessions, motivational speakers, virtual coffee breaks, lunchtime HIIT classes, fun quizzes, leadership training, work-from-home care packs, confidential counselling and more. On the way to accreditation we also rolled out a new eLearning platform, increased the number of ‘Show and Tell’ staff webinars and more. What emerged from our journey to accreditation is that people are at the heart of who we are and what we do.

Our core values sum up the ethos of our company – they are the ‘glue’ that hold us together and laid the foundation for us achieving our Great Place To Work® accreditation.
As an accredited company each year Global Shares undertakes a Great Place to Work Cultural Audit© and Trust Index© survey.
The result of this survey in 2020 was that Global Shares scored higher than our best medium-sized comparators. This is testament to our team and our continuous investment in our people, who are key enablers of our organisational strategy. We know that challenges remain ahead of us but we’ve an exciting five-year HR plan and we’ll continue to improve and mature as an accredited Great Place to Work.
We were delighted to be named one of Ireland’s Best Workplaces™ 2021 at the 19th annual Great Place to Work® Awards. Global Shares was listed in the top 20 medium sized Best Workplaces™.
These awards honour companies with a people-first approach to business, illuminate the impact of caring for their employees in a historically challenging time and recognise purpose-driven leaders who led their teams through a turbulent 2020.
This is Global Shares’ first year to be named as a top Irish workplace, ranking #17th in the Medium Sized Organisations category (100 – 250 employees), based on our employee numbers in Ireland.
