Gold Sponsor – Clonakilty’s Autism Friendly Playground

Global Shares has become Gold Sponsor of the Clonakilty Playground Redevelopment Project and joined the huge drive to raise funds for Clonakilty town’s new autism-friendly playground. Plans are in place to fully refurbish the town’s existing playground into a state-of-the-art play park for children, with an inclusive design & designated sensory autism-friendly section, in keeping with Clonakilty’s status as Ireland’s first Autism Friendly Town.

What’s involved in the Playground Redevelopment & Fundraising Project?

The existing playground is very dilapidated and will be completely overhauled. The project will involve extensive resurfacing, the creation of a new junior and senior play area, the addition of 26 new playground items and the refurbishment of six existing items.

The total project cost comes to €225,000, which has been raised by the Playground Committee through a range of grants, fundraising, community donations and business support, and works will commence in the Spring of 2023.

“We’re absolutely delighted to support Clonakilty town’s new autism-friendly playground. Global Shares and J.P. Morgan seeks to be an accessible workplace for all employees; we have a Head of Neurodiversity and a comprehensive strategy for cultivating neurodivergent talent. This inclusive playground will help children and families in our community to thrive, and in a few years’ time we look forward to welcoming some of those same children through our doors as employees at our HQ in Clonakilty’s Technology Park. Well done to everyone in the community for driving this great initiative.

Through Global Shares/J.P. Morgan and our local community’s continued support we are thrilled to deliver a brand-new playpark for the children of Clonakilty that they so desperately deserve. How lucky are we to have the headquarters of Global Shares right here on our doorstep. As well as being international leaders in their field, providing hundreds of local jobs, and being voted one of Ireland’s best workplaces of 2022, Global Shares has once again supported our community by donating a huge €5,000 to the Clonakilty Playground fund.
Due to this kindness and generosity we are one step closer to a safe and inclusive playground for all of our children. This donation is hugely appreciated. Thank you so much.
