We were absolutely humbled to receive a Community Award at a civic reception hosted by the Clonakilty Mayoral Council on May 17th, recognising Global Shares ‘outstanding achievements on the global market’.
The other 2022 Award Recipients included
· Natalia Menovska, for her outstanding volunteering and language translation for the Ukrainian refugees that recently arrived in the Clonakilty Community Hall
· Ronan Archbold, for his continued voluntary work with West Cork Rapid Response and for the many lives he has saved in the community
· The O’ Neill Family, Fernhill House Hotel, on being named the Irish Wedding Venue of the Year 2022
· Reverend Kingsley Sutton, for his outstanding community spirit in his many video productions over the Covid-19 Pandemic
· Lydia Sutton, Captain of the Sacred Heart Secondary School team, All Ireland Football Champions 2022
· John Leahy, for his achievement in bringing Clonakilty Soccer Club to three Beamish Cup Finals
· The all-time duo of Jimmy O’ Regan and Denis Noonan, for their outstanding support and promotion of Clonakilty Rugby Club
· Clonakilty Community Youth Centre, for their outstanding achievement in securing a purpose-built state of the art facility for the young people of Clonakilty
· Danny Costelloe, for his outstanding contribution to the community of Clonakilty
· St. James Scór na nÓg, who won the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Final 2022
We were very proud to be honoured by Clonakilty Mayoral Council alongside the other truly fantastic recipients and hear stories of their extraordinary contributions and success in volunteerism, clubs, sport, music, business and community spirit. We have a remarkable community in Clonakilty and we’re so proud to play our part in it.

About Clonakilty Mayoral Council
Clonakilty town has had a statutory Mayor for over 400 years, ever since a town charter was granted in the year 1613. The Clonakilty Mayoral Council is made up of five directly elected members, who each take up the position of Mayor of Clonakilty for a term of one year, and their mandate is to represent the people of the town and surrounding areas. The Mayor’s role is voluntary and unpaid, and during their term in office the Mayor attends more than 100 events. The Mayoral Council members for 2019-2024 include Anthony McDermott, Michael O’Neill, Padraig O Reilly, Paddy McCarthy and Chris Hinchy.
