It’s official – we’re a Great Place to Work®

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we’re now officially a ‘A Great Place to Work®’ certified company.

The Great Workplaces Programme is the world’s largest study of workplace excellence and people management practices. It’s the global authority on workplace culture.

Stephen Tabb, our HR Director said: “Achieving this certification – especially at the end of a pandemic year – is something we are hugely proud of. Not only does it recognise Global Shares as one of Ireland’s Great Workplaces, it is a globally recognised public endorsement of our company, which enhances our employer branding and tells the world that we’re an employer of choice”.

“We set out on this journey 18 months ago, fully committed to design, build and sustain a high-trust, high-performance culture in Global Shares, whilst simultaneously embarking on the rapid global scaling of our business. We knew that the road to certification would be a great framework for us and ensure we were doing our very best as an employer”.

A Great Workplace is all about:

  • The level of trust that employees experience in their leaders
  • The level of pride they have in their jobs
  • The extent to which they like their colleagues

As part of the certification process, we spent a lot of time really examining ourselves as a company.

We carried out workshops with staff from diverse departments, offices and backgrounds to re-establish our core values and create new vision and mission statements.

We carried out employee engagement surveys to find out what changes were important to people to shape our future HR policies.

We established ‘Global Cares’ – our very active wellbeing programme, which focuses on our employees’ emotional, mental, physical & social wellbeing.

Our new eLearning platform was rolled out, we increased the number of our live staff webinars and created a jam-packed ‘Global Cares’ programme of activities including online mindfulness, virtual coffee breaks, leadership training, work-from-home gift packs, confidential counselling and more.

What emerged from our journey to accreditation is that people are at the heart of who we are and what we do.

Global Shares’ core values sum up the ethos of our company:

  • People: We care about our people
  • Bravery: We dare to do things differently
  • Global: We are one global network
  • Integrity: We are committed to professional integrity
  • Service: We are client-focused.

These strongly-held core values are the ‘glue’ that holds us together as a team and helped to prepare us for the Great Place to Work Cultural Audit© and Trust Index© survey. Ultimately they laid the foundation for us to achieve our new accreditation.

Stephen Tabb added: “I would say that for anyone who doesn’t know Global Shares we’re a forward-thinking, diverse, vibrant, friendly company with an uber-talented team and massive global ambition”.

“I’m extremely proud that we have received this certification, and also that we’ve scored higher than our best medium-sized comparators. This is a testament to our team and our continuous investment in our people, who are key enablers of our organisational strategy. We know that challenges remain ahead of us but we have got an exciting five-year HR plan and we’ll continue to improve and mature as an accredited Great Place to Work”.
